Press Releases

Cleveland, Ohio – July 29th, 2024 — In June, Cleveland Hopkins International Airport (CLE) welcomed 987,508 guests, a 6.6 percent increase over the same month last year. The last time CLE experienced more passengers in a month was in July of 2019.

“TSA has been screening record numbers of travelers nationwide, and we are experiencing peak activity in Cleveland as well,” said Bryant L. Francis, C.M., Director of Port Control. “We are also seeing a shift in airline market share, which directly relates to revenue passengers served, with Frontier Airlines taking the top spot for the first time during the month.”

Year-to-date, 5,016,756 passengers have traveled via CLE, up more than 8 percent over 2023 and nearly 3 percent more than 2019, the last year before the pandemic. CLE remains on target to reach or exceed 10,250,000 passengers in calendar year 2024.

As the summer travel period is well underway, we’d like to remind our guests that due to the increase in guests travelling this time of year, it is important to arrive at least 2 hours before your scheduled flight to ensure clearing the TSA Security Checkpoints.
