CLE Recognized by International Industry Group for Outstanding Performance
“Less Fare, More There” campaign recognized
Cleveland, February 24th, 2017 – Cleveland Hopkins International Airport (CLE) was honored at a recent aviation industry event for outstanding airport performance in the 5- 15 million annual passenger category. The CLE team was selected by a panel of airline executives for superior efforts among North American airports for marketing outreach to the airline industry, partnerships with airlines and success in attracting new air service.
“This is an honor for Cleveland,” said Airport Director Robert Kennedy. “This award is decided by airlines, which means they are watching Cleveland and they see a strong track record of success built upon an actively engaged community that supports new air service and destinations.”
CLE was recognized specifically for efforts to attract new carriers and expand service including: Frontier, Spirit, JetBlue and in 2017 Allegiant. Seven airlines including incumbent airlines: American, Delta and Southwest have launched 43 new Cleveland routes since the hub closed.
Included in the award submission was the airport’s “Less Fare, More There” campaign created with Cleveland based Recess Creative highlighting the airport’s lower airfares and breadth of new service to where Northeast Ohio travelers most desire to travel.
About Routes
Routes events are unique forums dedicated to the development of new air services. Five ‘regional’ route development forums are held between February and June in the Americas, Asia, Europe and Africa, with the flagship World Routes event taking place in September. www.routesonline.com
The events revolve around pre-scheduled meetings and an exhibition and conference which are delivered in partnership with host stakeholders. Hosts tend to be a collaboration between airports, tourism authorities and investment partners (the bidding process takes place two to three years before the event takes place).
Routes was founded in 1995 and is part of the EMEA division of UBM plc.
