Press Releases
Cleveland Hopkins International Airport (CLE) welcomed more guests in the first six months of 2018, than in the first six months of any year since 2009.
“The continued growth in passengers flying to and from Cleveland Hopkins International Airport is a testament to the airport’s focus on growing air service and the quality of the traveling public’s experience. It is also evidence of our region’s increasing reputation as a key destination for regional, national and international travel.”
Year-to-date CLE has welcomed 4,671,689 guests to the airport, which is a 7.68 percent increase over the successful numbers CLE recorded in 2017.
“Northeast Ohio continues to make Cleveland Hopkins International Airport their choice airport to get them where they want to go,” said Airport Director Robert Kennedy. “With such passenger increases, we are examining how we can accommodate the growth while providing superior customer service to our guests.”
The growth in passengers translates to more than 330,000 more people coming through CLE’s front doors than during the same period last year, with 96 percent of passengers starting or ending their trip in Cleveland.
CLE is on pace to welcome 9.6 million guests by the end of 2018. This equates to approximately 3 million more people using the airport roadways than we had five years ago. The airport continues to make improvements to the facility and is planning for future improvements to accommodate growth and create an enjoyable experience for guests.
